Anacortes travel writer Lara Dunning will share her expertise and passion for small town travel at the 2018 Scholarship Fundraiser Tea given by the Anacortes Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). Tea, coffee, and a generous assortment of homemade sweets and savories will be served, and themed gift baskets will be offered as drawing prizes. Lara Dunning is the founder and editor of SmallTownWashington.com & Beyond, a travel site dedicated to lodging, dining, activities, history and local life in small towns. The site features slower-paced travel experiences, soft adventure, connections with locals, unique and budget lodging, and the history and food culture of a location. The site also explores historic destinations and dog-friendly travel options. Dunning holds an MFA in Creative writing and has published over 100 travel article and many creative nonfiction essays in a wide variety of travel and lifestyle magazines and destination guides. She won 2nd place in the Authors.me YA!2015 young adult fiction competition for her novel Aleutian Pearl, and this year was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Please enjoy this wonderful opportunity to support scholarships for local women while exploring new opportunities for small town travel and adventure in the local area and beyond.
