Help Skagit Land Trust plant native species at Diobsud Creek Abel! This beautiful forested property along Diobsud Creek is home to many key wildlife species. Salmonids, including Coho, Sockeye, Pink, Chinook, Chum, Cutthroat, Steelhead, Rainbow Trout, and Bull Trout, have all been known to use the creek. Additionally, starting in 2017 Grey Wolves have been known to use the area. The Diobsud Wolf pack was named in 2018. As Washington's western-most wolf pack, it is likely that the Diobsud Creek Abel Conservation Area also provides habitat for this pack. We will be planting native trees and shrubs in the open areas where the old home site once stood. This will encourage native re-vegetation of these areas and ensure this property continues to provide habitat for the wildlife of this area. In honor of Native Plant Appreciation Month, we will also be hosting an informational booth to talk about the importance of native plants and how to incorporate them into your gardens. Skagit Land Trust will provide tools, gloves, and refreshments. Please bring a water bottle and reusable cup for hot beverages. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes. We will provide training for the task at hand. More details and RSVP form at website below.
