The Anacortes Music Channel and local music supporters are bringing Halloween to the Historic Depot located at 611 R Ave, Anacortes, WA. Highlighting the evening is a rare performance by the legendary local band Captain Fathom. Also performing The Openers. The Nightmare Before Halloween is an opportunity for the community to come together and support this local music/art organization and celebrate Halloween with home town musicians, costume contests, a no host bar, photo booth, treats and perhaps a zombie or two. The Anacortes Music Channel focuses on acknowledging and supporting artists/musicians by providing a place to gather, perform and creating awareness and publicity through the Anacortes Music Channel online streaming anywhere in the world that has internet. AMC publishes Show Chime a music publication distributed on Fidalgo Island. A recent addition is their online music station: spinning Anacortes-centric recordings, DJ skill development, content creation by community members and live broadcast of online shows. AMC facilitates regular, experimental music and art classes. Captain Fathom formed in the early '90s and was based in the small northern Washington town of Anacortes, WA. Captain Fathom is an indie jam band with a better sense of variety, wit, and dynamics than most such outfits. Captain Fathom performed and recorded from 1992 to around 2003 all around the NW and mostly on Fidalgo Island. Their performing style was not unlike the Grateful Dead with extended improvisations. Rooted in jazz, metal, world and folk. Their debut CD, 1997's Dischordpatheos, has the expected long, fluid, elliptical tracks, with silvery interwoven guitar lines and occasional embellishment from horns and spoken voices.
